How to Add Your Service Account as a Google Search Console Owner
After uploading your service account key to GoIndexed, you need to add the service account email as an Owner in Google Search Console. This guide shows you how.
Why owner access is required
The Indexing API only works for URLs from properties where the service account has been granted Owner access in Google Search Console.
Without this step, GoIndexed can read your URL data but cannot submit URLs to Google for indexing.
For URL-prefix properties (https://yourdomain.com/)
Open Search Console → Settings → Users and permissions
Select your property, then go to Settings → Users and permissions.
Click Add user
Paste the service account email shown in GoIndexed and set the permission to Owner.
Save and return to GoIndexed
Click Verify in GoIndexed. Once confirmed, the site will show a green Verified badge and auto-indexing will activate.
For domain properties (sc-domain:yourdomain.com)
Google does not allow adding owners to domain properties through the Search Console UI — it requires a DNS TXT record instead.
GoIndexed will show you the exact DNS token to add. See the guide on adding a DNS TXT record for step-by-step instructions.
